Karachi violence: 12 suspects arrested, two bodies recovered

KARACHI: A total of 12 suspects were arrested by the police and Rangers in Karachi on Tuesday, while at least six were killed in different parts of the city, DawnNews reported.

Four gang members were arrested while three others were killed in clashes with the police and Rangers.

Similarly, skirmishes between drug dealers resulted in one dead in Chanesar Goth, after which the residents of the area blocked the main road in protest. They claimed that the criminals were backed by the police.

Moreover, two bodies were recovered from Pak Colony and Purana Hajji Camp, while another was killed from firing in Shah Faisal Colony.

However, police captured eight gang members after conducting a search operation in Maripur and Mawach Goth. They also confiscated a large amount of weapons and toy bombs from the militants.

Furthermore, clashes between Rangers and militants in Lyari resulted in three suspects, including Malik Saleem and Sanaullah, being killed. causing the atmosphere to become extremely tense after.

Karachi is home to multiple conflicts that frequently turn violent, including gang wars and ethnic and political rivalries. Militants are said to use the city as a hiding place and a source of funds obtained through bank heists, extortion and kidnapping for ransom.

The violence in Karachi has escalated in recent days, causing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to call a special cabinet meeting on September 4, aimed at finding a solution to solve the heightening tensions in the metropolis.
