KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Rabita Committee Deputy Convener MNA Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Sunday said that feudal system negates democratic system.
He expressed these views while addressing a dinner organised by the Engineering Forum at the City Sports Complex (KMC Sports Complex) here, said a statement.
Democracy cannot flourish in a country where feudal system exists because this system negates democratic system, said Siddiqui.
He was of the view that Karachi was the only place in Pakistan where democracy exists.
Highly educated people from the port city have reached assemblies because of their political consciousness, he added.
The MQM leader said that a society which strives for elimination of injustices is considered the best society.
Dr Siddiqui maintained that MQM enjoys 85 per cent mandate of Karachi, adding that the Sindh capital cannot be cleared of illegal arms unless illegal arms are cleared from other parts of the country.
Addressing the occasion, former MNA Engineer Farhat Khan said the Engineering Forum has been formed to help students in their problems. Former petroleum minister Sohail Wajahat said that economy depends on engineers. We can improve our economy with good engineers.
He added that there are 27,000 engineers. If they sit together they can create wonders.
