DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that the new local government system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would end corruption and injustice.
He resolved to continue campaign against corruption and give the people a ‘new Pakistan’.
The PTI chief was addressing a public meeting in Manyala here.
Mr Khan said the local government system was functioning very successfully in western states. “Through this system the people will get their rights of education and health facilities at their doorsteps,” he said.
The PTI chief said the local government system would give the people control over utilisation of development funds.
Imran Khan said that politicians with vested interests were creating hurdles in the way of the new LG system as they knew that the new system would end their control over resources.
He asked the people to make such politicians accountable for their wrongdoings, who he said made wealth in getting diesel permits and now rode land cruisers.
Without naming anyone he said some politicians were doing politics in the name of Islam to further their vested interests.
Mr Khan said the PTI would soon end patwari and thana culture to rid the nation of the ‘cruel system’.
He said salaries to teachers would be paid through people so to improve their performance and make them answerable to the people.
Mr Khan said as the PTI was fighting war to secure future of the youth so they should strengthen the party.
The PTI chairman vowed to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a model province.
He said that if any minister in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was found involved in any wrongdoing, he would face action. “We will start accountability from the top,” he said.
He also said that bureaucracy would be made to serve the masses. The PTI chief announced to set up playgrounds in each district of the province to provide recreation and sports facilities to youth.
