KARACHI, Nov 30: A suspected criminal was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Lyari on Saturday, officials said.
Mohammad Javed alias Bengali, 37, was killed near Hanfi Masjid in Agra Taj Colony. He was hit by four bullets, they said.
“The deceased was wanted for his involvement in several cases, including killings and extortion,” said Inspector Raja Tanveer, the SHO of Kalri police station. “He was associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and nominated in more than a dozen cases lodged with different police stations in Lyari.”
In Shershah, Imtiaz Shah, 35, was found shot dead. Police said Shah was released from a hospital after remaining there for five months. He was treated for some mental disorder.
“The incident seems to be linked with some personal enmity,” said an official at the Shershah police station. “Shah was missing since Saturday morning. His body was found near Zia Mor, an isolated area close to Metroville.”
Meanwhile, a young man was found shot dead in Korangi area late on Saturday. Police said the body of the man in his early 20s was found abandoned along the Korangi Causeway.
“The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico legal formalities,” said an official at the Korangi Industrial Area police station. “An ID card found in the victim’s pocket suggested that his name was Mohammad Saad and he was a resident of Gulshan Bihar area in Orangi Town.”
