KARACHI: The Sindh Home department has approached the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to transfer nine murder cases from Karachi to other provinces, DawnNews reported.
In a letter addressed to Chief Justice SHC, Justice Maqbool Baqar, the Home department has requested for the transfer of the nine case to other provinces under the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance 2013.
It stated that cases relating to the murders of Advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa, journalist Wali Khan Babar and two police personnel in Nazimabad be transferred outside of Sindh.
The letter moreover requested that four other murder cases from the city's Kharadar, Mobina Town, Sachchal and Gulistan-i-Jauhar neighbourhoods be moved to other provinces.
It may be pertinent to mention that in November the Sindh High Court had transferred the Wali Babar murder case from Karachi to an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the province’s Kashmore-Kandhkot district. The case had been transferred at the request of the Sindh government from the metropolis in view of threats to the lives of case investigators, witnesses and prosecution lawyers.
