ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took notice of a media report on Saturday regarding rape of a 12-year-old girl allegedly by her neighbours in Karachi.
Quoting the report, a press release issued by the Supreme Court said the girl was abducted from outside her house during a power failure and was raped by unidentified culprits.
The chief justice has directed the Inspector General (IG) Police Sindh to submit an initial investigation report in this regard.
He also took notice on a news item published in a section of media on Saturday regarding non arrest of the culprits behind rape of a 5-year-old girl in Lahore despite lapse of over100 days.
The report further stated that police have neither identified nor arrested the culprits.
It is pertinent to mention that the case is already registered in Human Right Cell of the Supreme Court.
Therefore, after going through the record of police submitted in the HRC case, Chief Justice Jillani directed the IG Police Punjab to appear before the court on December 24.
