COLLEGE WITHOUT FACILITIES: The newly constructed building of government girls’ degree college has no internal electrification, clean drinking water, functional latrines and other facilities, hampering learning activities.

PTI female MPA and district development advisory committee chairperson Zarin Zia was informed during a visit to the college on Tuesday that the building was still incomplete despite deadline of June 30, 2013.

She was informed that due to negligence of communication and works department officials, contractors used substandard material in the building. The only tube-well is out of order, creating water shortage.

Mr Zia saw that over 250 female students were forced to take classes in two-three rooms due to incomplete academic block. She was informed that communication and works department had not made payments to Wapda for installation of electricity meters.

Ms Zia reiterated that C&W officials and contractors would face music for poor execution of public projects. She said she would urge the chief minister to order an inquiry into the matter so guilty officials and contractors could be punished.
