ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has severely criticised the speech delivered by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in which he derided Imran Khan, calling him a coward who could not face militants and extremists.

In his Naudero speech on Friday, young Bilawal lashed out at the PTI leader for blocking Nato supplies and said he was doing this because of his love for Taliban leader Hakeemullah Mehsud who was killed in a US drone attack in November. He also ridiculed movement tsunami which, he said, could not be launched with the support of a few turncoats.

PTI information secretary Dr Shireen Mazari said it was unfortunate that such language had been used for a leader who headed the country’s second largest party.

In his speech, she said, Mr Bilawal had demonstrated his political immaturity. “He knows nothing about the basics of politics,” she said, adding that he must learn to use decent language in his speeches.

Senior PPP leaders should spare some time and let him understand how politics works.

Mr Bilawal should know that he had inherited a political party whereas the PTI was the only political party in the country which believed in principles of democracy and held intra-party elections, Dr Mazari said.

“Before criticising Mr Khan, the young PPP leader must know that terrorism spread to every nook and corner of the country during the five-year rule of his father,” she said.

In Lahore, PML-N leader and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah also came down hard on Bilawal and said his speech was full of controversies.

He said the contents of the speeches of Bilawal and former president Asif Ali Zardari were so different that it appeared that there was no understanding between the son and the father.

He said Mr Bilawal should have given a message of reconciliation, instead of criticising political parties and their leaders. He advised Mr Zardari to hire a political coach for Bilawal.
