LARKANA: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Sindh is inseparable part of the country and an indivisible entity.
No one could dare to divide Sindh, he declared while speaking to the media at a ceremony held at the Chandka Medical College here on Sunday to mark the 86ths birth anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party founder chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Responding to a flurry of questions about Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain’s statements regarding an equitable share in Sindh’s resources for Urdu-speaking population of the province, the chief minister said Mr Hussain had changed the statements he had made during his telephonic address to his party workers in Hyderabad on Saturday.
“It’s Sindh that had made Pakistan and we believed in serving the province,” he said, and added that the MQM chief had been calling himself as ‘son of Sindh’.
Earlier, addressing the ceremony the chief minister drew resemblance between the spirit of Z.A. Bhutto and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and noted that the latter had proved his leadership qualities and silenced his critics.Mr Shah paid homage to Z. A. Bhutto and lauded his visionary leadership. He said Mr Bhutto as the prime minister rendered unparallel services to the nation.
He recounted the late Bhutto’s achievements and said he made India to release 90,000 prisoners of war and liberate 5,000 square kilometres of land captured during the 1971 war.
“This strip of land is rich with coal reservoirs and a tremendous source of energy. Besides, it has the potential to help the country earn plenty of foreign exchange through exports,” the chief minister said. He said it was Z. A. Bhutto who made the country a nuclear power and convened the Islamic Summit to unite the Muslim world.
Meanwhile, thousands of people along with PPP leaders converged on Garhi Khuda Bukhsh Bhutto to pay homage to Z. A. Bhutto on his 86th birth anniversary on Sunday.
They renewed their pledge to accomplish the mission of their executed leader, who preferred to walk to the gallows than to compromise on principles.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Senior Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, MNA Ayaz Soomro and many other PPP leaders laid wreaths on and offered fateha at the mazar of Z. A. Bhutto and those of his family members at the mausoleum. Quran Khwani was also held at the mausoleum, where a free eye camp was set up by the Peoples Doctors Forum. More than 100 eye surgeries were performed and over 600 patients were examined at the camp.
PPP-Shaheed Bhutto leaders and supporters also organised various programmes in Larkana district to mark the occasion.
At the main party function held in Al-Murtaza House, Sindh PPP-SB chief Ali Ahmed Palipoto, Dr Sikandar Jatoi, Ghulam Rasool Umrani and others cut a cake and paid homage to Z. A. Bhutto.
