ISLAMABAD: Managing Director of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) Yousaf Baig Mirza and acting MD PTVC Qazi Mustafa have been relieved of their duties in pursuance of the judgment of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Yousaf Baig Mirza was relieved of his duties as MD PTV with effect from April 12, 2013, says a press release issued here Wednesday.
Similarly, in pursuance of the same judgment, the notification dated 16 April 2013 regarding appointment of Qazi Mustafa Kamal as acting MD PTVC has also been withdrawn ab initio in toto.
The information ministry has also issued necessary notifications in this regard.
IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in April this year declared the appointment of Mr Baig as illegal and had ordered for the recovery of the profit the former managing director was receiving under an agreement with the ministry of information and broadcasting.
Justice Siddiqui in his judgment of April 15 also ordered the federal government to appoint a suitable person as MD but Mustafa Kamal who has been given charge of acting MD challenged the appointment process for the said post and obtained a stay order in his favour and the appointment process had to be stopped.
