Imran demands national policy on terrorism

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday demanded of the federal government devise a national policy for countering terrorism in the country suggesting that Pakistan should separate itself from the US led war on terror.

While addressing a press conference on his first visit after his party formed government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, he said the federal government should call a meeting, which should be briefed by the army chief. “In that meeting KP chief minister, I as chairman PTI and others should sit to know what our army is doing and what is their program.”

“We should be on the same page and devise a national policy,” he said adding that there were different types of terrorism ongoing in the country which need different strategies to counter them.

Chief Minster Parvez Khattak, Provincial Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai and others flanked him during the press conference.

Khan said that an independent commission for accountability of the corrupt elements would soon be constituted, which would keep eye on all politicians, MPAs and Bureaucrats.

He added that all the assets of bureaucrats, MPAs and minister would be displayed on official website and all the developmental funds would be utilised through local bodies representatives while politician and bureaucrats would not be provided to the chance to enhance their business.

The PTI chief maintained that the royalty of natural resources of Karak and Kohat would be spent through district development committees.

Regarding trying former president Musharraf in a treason case, Khan said that no person is above the law and each individual including the former military ruler must be treated as per the law of the land.

He said that his party believes in supremacy of law and constitution.

Khan said that on one hand US is trying to initiate dialogue with Taliban while on the other they edify Pakistan to fight militancy in its own country.

On sport, the former cricket legend said that at tehsil level play grounds would be built to promote cricket, hockey and volley ball.

He said that there will not transfer and posting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and incase of any complaint, proper enquiry would be initiated against government employee.

He said that the expense of chief minister house has been reduced from Rs140 million to Rs70 million while the expenses of advisors and ministers would also be reduced up to 75 per cent.

Imran Khan said that access to information is the right of every citizen and government would ensure to maximum access to information. He also appealed the federal government to hand over control of tourist spots to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in order to spend this money on education sector.

He said that 32 government rest houses in Nathia Galli would also be used for commercial purposes to generate maximum revenue.
