ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said extraordinary circumstances entail extraordinary steps during a meeting of the federal cabinet on Monday, DawnNews reported.

Under the leadership of the premier, a special session of the federal cabinet was held at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan apprised the cabinet of the country’s internal security policy as well as the law and order situation.

Sources said approval of the internal security policy was delayed and that it was decided in the meeting to make the proposed policy more effective.

Meanwhile, addressing the cabinet meeting, Prime Minster Nawaz said the country would have to think of extraordinary steps to deal with extraordinary circumstances.

The premier expressed his resolve to ensure rule of law in the country and said political and religious parties would be consulted in this regard.

He said there would be no politicking on the law and order as well as the economic situation of the country and neither would there be any compromise on principles.

Sharif said anti-terrorism courts would be established across the country and prosecutors would be appointed.

He said all institutions would have to play their respective roles to bring offenders to justice and directed the Ministries of Law and Home Affairs to implement the Tahafuz-e-Pakistan ordinance and strengthen the security situation of the border.

Separately, the cabinet meeting decided to continue discussion on the internal security policy of the country.

The meeting also paid tributes to the media, civilians and the Pakistan army for their endeavours and sacrifices in the war against terrorism. It also condemned the terrorist attacks in Bannu and Rawalpindi, respectively.
