ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday telephoned Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and sought details of the security situation in Quetta.
The prime minister conveyed his directives to the interior minister to immediately extend maximum assistance from the federal government’s law enforcement agencies to the Balochistan government in order to manage the situation.
At least 15 people, including 11 women, have been killed in Quetta in a series of blasts which began with an attack on a bus transporting students and teachers of a women only university in the provincial capital.
Following the blast, the injured were shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex which was taken over by attackers. Three explosions took place within the hospital’s premises and Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mansoor Khan and three security forces personnel were killed in the situation that ensued the first bombing and the siege of the hospital.
