KARACHI: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Friday defused a two kg bomb planted outside the house of a local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) in the Baldia Town area, DawnNews reported.
According to police, the residents informed them of a bomb planted by unidentified men in the area.
Following which police summoned the BDS personnel who defused the bomb and cleared the area.
Rangers targeted operation
In a targeted operation led by Rangers in the Sohrab Goth area, many suspects were arrested from the Hasan Noman Colony.
Rangers’ personnel on receiving secret information raided houses and hideouts of the suspects.
Also, the operation comprised of nearly four hundred Rangers personnel including female members and trained commandos of the Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS).
According to the Rangers spokesman, in the operation the entry and exit routes were sealed off.
The spokesman added that during the operation, a huge quantity of arms and drugs were also recovered from the possession of the suspects.
Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by the federal government and military and civilian agencies.
Karachi, the largest metropolitan city and economic capital of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism.
