ISLAMABAD: The special court resumed on Tuesday the hearing of the treason case against former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, DawnNews reported.
The three-judge court headed by Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court was hearing the case.
Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer Khalid Ranjha argued in favour of continuing the trial under a military court and said a person falling under the jurisdiction of the Army Act could not be tried under any other court.
On the other hand, the ex-servicemen legal forum submitted an application to the special court to become a party in the case.
The petition was sent by Colonel (retd) Inamur Rahim to registrar special court Abdul Ghani Soomro.
In the application, the petitioner sought the special court’s assistance on the Army Act, adding that the Lahore High Court had already declared the 1977 Amendment of the Army Act as null and void.
Subsequently, the hearing of the case was adjourned until tomorrow.
