PESHAWAR: A blast hit a neighbourhood close to the Iranian consulate in Peshawar on Monday killing at least one security personnel, rescue workers said.
Police sources said a suspicious vehicle stopped near a security checkpost on University Road near the Iranian consul-general’s office, following which a blast was witnessed.
According to initial reports quoted by rescue workers, the blast killed one paramilitary FC soldier and injured three others.
Details as to the exact nature of the blast were still not available.
Police said that the bomb disposal squad had been called in to check a suspicious vehicle for explosives.
