ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat against the statement of the interior minister and a calling attention notice, seeking financial support for Federal General Hospital and Federal Medical and Dental College.
Through the adjournment motion submitted by MNAs Imran Laghari, Abdul Sattar Bachani, Shazia Marri, Aijaz Jakhrani and Kamal Khan Chang, it was stated that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had offered Taliban to play cricket at this critical time when Pakistan was suffering at the hands of the Taliban.
It is pertinent to mention that on Monday a cricket match was held between Pakistani cricketers and the diplomats of Commonwealth countries in Islamabad.
The aim of the match was to bring international cricket to Pakistan by showing that its citizens loved cricket and wanted to see cricketers perform live in the country.
Chaudhry Nisar had told media persons on the occasion that Taliban should also play cricket.
The motion stated that the minister’s statement was condemnable as it ridiculed the efforts of the public and security forces who had rendered sacrifices in the fight against terror.
“The security and safety of the people is an issue of urgent importance and demands serious and responsible attitude of the government,” the MNAs said.
Moreover, MNAs Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Beelam Hasnain, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, Mir Shabbir Ali Bijrani and Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood had submitted a calling attention notice in National Assembly secretariat.
The MNAs invited the attention of the minister concerned regarding the future of two institutions under Cabinet Division — Federal General Hospital and Federal Medical and Dental College.
These institutions are on the verge of shutting down due to the government’s recent ban on extending the contract of employees.
“As this situation is not only a matter of concern for the employees of these institutions, it is also a cause of great agony for thousands of stakeholders related to these institutions. Therefore, we would like to draw the attention to this issue of great concern,” the MNAs said.
