ISLAMABAD: A district court in the federal capital while hearing a petition against the non-filing of an FIR against the IG police Islamabad, Bani Amin Khan and SSP Zafar Iqbal Awan, over the attack on a district court in Islamabad earlier this month, sought the list of policemen deployed at the premises for security, DawnNews reported.
Additional Session Judge, Raja Jawad Abbas was hearing the petition filed by lawyer of Islamabad Bar, Advocate Sher Afzal.
Advocate Sher Afzal argued that adequate security arrangements had not been made at the F/8 court, despite several terror threats.
He informed the court that neither the commandos of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) nor the elite forces personnel were present for duty to secure the court.
Afzal added that no action was taken against those responsible for this incident.
Advocate Sher Afzal blamed IG and SSP responsible for the incident of terrorism, which lasted almost 46 minutes.
Moreover, the victims were suffering but the police did not even fire at the assailants, the police still do not have the DNA of the attackers and he also said that police stated without any inquiry that there were only two bombers at the site of the attack, therefore the administration should be penalised for their negligence.
Afzal also said that, IG reached the site of the attack after one hour and 11 minutes after the attack took place; he also stated that there were only three attackers.
Afzal told the court that failure to halt terrorist activities was tantamount to terrorism in itself.
The F/8 kuchery is the same place where a suicide bomber had blown himself up outside the venue of a district bar council convention, killing 18 lawyers and political party workers who were waiting for the arrival of then Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on July 17, 2007, three days before his restoration as chief justice of the Supreme Court.
