QUETTA: Businesses in several district headquarters of the province remained closed on Friday in response to a call of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) to protest against the murder of a party leader, Haji Ataullah Mohammadzai, and called for an end to the killings of party workers.
Mr Mohammadzai was shot dead in Khuzdar a few days ago. The strike was observed in Quetta, Nushki, Dalbandin, Chagai, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Wadh, Hub, Gwadar, Panjgur, Turbat, Sibi and Jaffarabad.
In a statement, the BNP-M thanked traders and people for observing the strike against the ‘forces’ involved in targeted killings.
The BNP-M vowed to continue its struggle for the rights of Baloch people despite challenges in its efforts to protect resources and coast of the province. It said the government had failed to curb lawlessness.
