PESHAWAR: Senior Awami National Party (ANP) leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Thursday claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s proposal of establishing an office in Pakistan for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was due to his fear of offending the militant outfit, DawnNews reported.

The former information minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) added that there were more than 35 groups within the umbrella of the TTP, and therefore, the PTI chief would have to build an entire secretariat to accommodate them.

Furthermore, Mian Iftikhar said that pacifists could not lead a country.

The ANP leader criticised the lack of seriousness in the peace talks, adding that he and his party were praying for its success. He further said that the party was prepared to provide as much support to the government as required.

Mian Iftikhar added that the lack of well-known personalities in the government’s new peace committee was similar to that of TTP’s peace committee which has no members from the outfit.
