CHARSADDA: Hundreds of volunteers and health workers will participate in the first round of vaccination drive starting in Charsadda district from April 7 under the provincial government’s Sehat Ka Insaf programme.
This was decided at a convention of PTI workers held at Town Hall here on Tuesday. The participants discussed preparations made for carrying out the vaccination campaign in the district and also urged the volunteers to make the programme a success.
District health officer Mohammad Nawaz Khan told Dawn that 1,250 polio teams would vaccinate 273,000 children in the district against nine diseases, including polio. “PTI will also volunteer its workers to make the drive successful, and the volunteers will be trained in this regard,” he added.
A PTI leader said that 2,300 teams of workers would volunteer themselves on the day to reach maximum number of children. He said workers from youth and women wings of the party would participate in the campaign.
Addressing the convention, PTI Peshawar region general secretary Fazal Mohammad Khan, Charsadda district president Zahoor Khan, tehsil president Abid Khan and others said the previous government had ignored the important sectors of health and education.
They said the PTI-led provincial coalition would make every effort for promoting quality education and healthcare to people.
The speakers said thousands of PTI workers had volunteered their services to participate in the campaign in 50 union councils of the district. They thanked the party chief Imran Khan and chief minister Pervez Khattak for extending the vaccination programme to Charsadda district.
The participants were told that security personnel and other workers would be paid honoraria on performing their duties.
