RAWALPINDI: A case was registered against ex-minister Azam Khan Hoti on Sunday on the charge of hurling threats to his former wife, police said.
The case was registered on a court directive issued on an application filed by Shamim Akhtar, the former wife of Mr Hoti. His close aide Shah Nawaz has also been nominated in the case.
Ms Akhtar said in her complaint that she had received threats from Shah Nawaz, a hireling of Azam Hoti who claimed to be her husband.
To prove that he was her husband, Shah Nawaz in connivance with Azam Hoti had obtained a fake marriage certificate so that the latter might avoid paying her Mahar, she said.
On the other hand, Shah Nawaz lodged a case against Ms Akhtar, claiming that she was his wife but had married another man without getting divorce.
