PESHAWAR: Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.
KP Governor Engineer Shaukatullah, who is also reported to have tendered his resignation today, administered the oath to Miankhel.
The swearing in ceremony, which was held at the KP Governor House, was attended by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, KP senior minister and emir of Jamaat-i-Islami Sirajul Haq, provincial ministers, senior government officials and members of the judiciary.
The family of Justice Miankhel was also present on the occasion.
Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel hails from KP’s Dera Ismail Khan district.
He has twice served as member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and was elevated to the bench as an additional judge on Sept 7, 2009. Subsequently, he was confirmed as a judge of the high court on Sept 5, 2011.
