QUETTA: The Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) has accused the government, intelligence agencies and Khuzdar administration of harassing the people of Wadh town to create problems for the party’s leadership.
The party appealed to the traders to observe a strike on Thursday and requested the transporters not to bring to the roads their buses and coaches on Friday, to support the party’s blockade of the highways.
Leaders and activists of the BNP staged a demonstration outside the press club on Tuesday in protest against the killing of three persons in Wadh area three days back.
Addressing the rally, party’s senior vice-president Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldani, information secretary Agha Hasan Baloch, Ghulam Nabi Marri, Bibi Jamila and organiser of the Baloch Students Organisation Javed Baloch slated the provincial government for maintaining silence over “anti-people activities in Wadh area”.
They alleged that the establishment was hatching a conspiracy to repeat the Dera Bugti drama in Wadh area and to create troubles for BNP-M leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal.
Speakers claimed that the rulers had also encouraged some elements in Dera Bugti against Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, a veteran leader who was later eliminated by the security forces.
They said that now the government and its intelligence agencies had diverted their attention towards Wadh to open a new front.
Leaders of the BNP-M cautioned the government that supporting the miscreants in Wadh area against party leadership would be dangerous for the province, particularly Khuzdar district.
They asserted that the party leadership was being punished for its stance on the Gwadar seaport and gas pipeline project between Pakistan and Iran adding that the BNP-M would not change the policy on both issues.
