Haj fare slashed by Rs23,000

ISLAMABAD: The government has reduced Haj fares by Rs23,000 and a person intending to go on pilgrimage this year will now be charged Rs272,000.

Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousaf said this at the meeting of a parliamentary committee here on Thursday.

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony had met at the Parliament House with Hafiz Abdul Kareem in the chair.

The minister said that initiatives had been made to provide maximum facilities to pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia.

The reduction has been made on the recommendation of the standing committee which was informed that fares might be further reduced by creating a competitive environment among different private airlines.

Those who attended the meeting included Waheed Alam Khan, Begum Majida Wyne, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, Sahibzada Faizul Hassan, Bhawan Das, Asiya Naz Tanoli, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Syed Amir Shah Jamote, Shagufta Jumani, Ramesh Lal, Ali Mohammad Khan, Lal Chand Malhi, Pir Bux Junejo, Sahibzada Yaqub, Bismillah Khan and officials of the ministry of religious affairs and inter-faith harmony.
