KARACHI: A sessions court on Saturday dismissed an application seeking registration of a counter FIR of the May 8 DHA shootout.

An 18-year-old boy and a police guard were killed while another teenager and a private security guard were wounded in the shootout at the bungalow of 18-year-old Suleman Lashari on Khayaban-i-Shamsheer following a quarrel between the teenagers over some petty issue, police said.

In the application moved by Mansoor Abro, a cousin of Salman Abro, the prime suspect in the Suleman Lashari murder case, said that both the teenagers were friends and classmates.

He said they had a petty dispute and his cousin had visited the house of Lashari to settle the matter. But he contended that Lashari’s guard opened fire, leaving Salman Abro wounded and claimed that the other guards returned fire in self-defence that left Lashari dead and his guard wounded.

The Darakshan SHO submitted that the FIR of the incident had already been registered, suspects arrested and investigation was under way.

The applicant asked the court to direct the SHO to register the FIR.

The district and sessions judge (south) Ahmed Saba dismissed the application after hearing both sides and said the applicant was at liberty to file direct complaint.
