PESHAWAR: Two alleged ‘target killers’ were killed on Sunday during a police encounter at Mattani Bazaar of the city, police officials claimed.
Station House Officer (SHO) Mattani Police Station Fazle Wahid confirmed that four militants opened fired on police personnel after which they counterattacked the militants, killing two suspects on the spot and injuring the other two.
Furthermore six passerbys including a woman were also injured in the incident. They were later shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, Jamil Shah the spokesman of the hospital said.
Search Operation
In another incident, police and security forces conducted a search operation and arrested four suspects in Mattani and surrounding areas.
Police also recovered hand grenades and weapons from their possession.
Though police has termed suspects as target killers, their alleged involvement in targeting security forces brought a strong uncertainty if they were ‘target killers’ or associated with some militant group.
