ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday filed a miscellaneous petition in the Supreme Court over alleged tampering in ballot bags for the NA-118 constituency, DawnNews reported.

The petition was submitted in the apex court by PTI’s counsel Hamid Khan and alleged that acting chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority Imtiaz Tajwar was involved in the rigging.

The application alleged that vote bags were tampered with under a scheme engineered by the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N).

It also alleged that the government had changed the Nadra chairman at the time for this very purpose.

The application said that acting Tajwar was a puppet of the PML-N government, adding that he was tampering votes in order to please his superiors who had appointed him to the position.

The petition added that the issue of verification of votes for the NA-154 constituency was also pending with Nadra, adding that the PTI did not trust the authority's current leadership on the matter.

It went on to say that a local commissioner should be appointed to ensure the safety of bags containing ballot papers until thumbprint verification could be arranged.

Since the 2013 general elections, PTI chairman Imran Khan has been alleging that a full scale fraud had taken place. He has been calling for verification of voters’ thumb impressions with Nadra's assistance.
