ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday directed Inspector General Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Maj-Gen Tayyab Azeem to further improve coordination between security and intelligence agencies in the province.

The minister issued the above directive during a meeting with Maj-Gen Azeem during which the IG FC briefed Nisar on the situation in the province as well as in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

The interior minister praised the sacrifices of security forces for the country’s defence and following his meeting with the inspector general went into a huddle at the Prime Minister House with other members of the Cabinet Committee of National Security (CCNS).

Nisar’s statements come in the wake of an attack in Karachi during which 28 people, including 10 terrorists, were killed.

Karachi saw another attack by the Pakistani Taliban on Tuesday morning which was closely preceded by airstrikes in the Khyber tribal region’s Tirah valley.

Some 25 suspected militants were reportedly killed in the Tirah airstrikes.
