PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday, arrested two bureaucrats for their alleged involvement in a land scam worth Rs 400 million.
The NAB officials claimed to arrest director planning Salahuddin and assistant director planning Muhammad Yaqoob.
The accused were charged with the plundering of Rs 400 million, in connection with purchasing land at Nathiagali for a housing scheme. The land piece was purchased without the consent of authorities concerned.
The scam reportedly caused a loss of Rs 400 million to the national exchequer.
A deeper investigation is underway to unearth the misappropriation of funds.
Earlier NAB had already arrested the then secretary housing Zakiullah, former director finance of the Provincial Housing Authority (PHA), former PHA DG Javed Ahmad, land acquisition collector Naveed Qadir and their alleged frontman, Mohammad Asif in the same case.
Furthermore NAB claimed that in 2012 the PHA, Peshawar, acquired land for a project namely `housing scheme for government servants and general public’ at Nathiagali, in Abbottabad at exorbitant price.
