Four people taken into custody
Intelligence agencies conducted raids on two mobile companies of Nawabshah and took four people into custody.
The four were suspected of selling mobile phone SIMs to the terrorists involved in Karachi airport attack.
The people withheld by agencies were the employees of the mobile companies and were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
On the night of 8th June, unidentified assailants had forged fake ID cards to pose as ASF personnel and had managed to enter the old terminal.
The militants carried out the attack from three different sides, while there were reports that two terrorists managed to get inside a plane.
The long operation against the attackers was successful and all militants were eliminated. On the afternoon of 9th June, Karachi airport was handed over to CAA and was opened for general public.
Before the dust had settled another attack took place a day later on the Airport Security Force (ASF) camp number 2 in Karachi. There were no casualties in the attack, in which at least three to four terrorists opened fire near the camp and fled after heavy contingent of security forces reached the spot.
Yesterday, First Information Report (FIR) of the attack on Karachi’s international airport was registered against the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), under the Anti-Terrorism Act, nominating the top brass of the banned militant outfit including its spokesman Shahidullah Shahid.
Earlier, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) had also claimed responsibility of Karachi airport attack.
The involvement of IMU in Karachi airport attack gave a new turn to the investigation conducted by the intelligence agencies.
