KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has invited the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to join the Sindh government.
The MQM has asked for time to access the situation in Karachi as well as the views of the people and its party workers.
Under the leadership of former interior minister Rehman Malik, a PPP delegation reached Nine-Zero, where they were welcolmed by MQM leaders. Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman and and Pir Mazharul Haq were also present as part of the PPP delegation.
The leaders of both party discussed important issues, including the situation in Karachi.
During a press conference after the meeting, Rehman Malik said that they had invited the MQM to join the provincial government.
In reply to a question, the former interior minister said that the banned People Aman Committee is in no way connected with the PPP and that action must be taken against all criminal elements.
Speaking on the occassion, MQM leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui reiterated that his party's missing workers must be retrieved and that Karachi's situation must be improved.
He said that the party will make its decision on joining or not joining the Sindh government after consultation with its Rabita Committee, workers and the public as well.
