ISLAMABAD: A father and daughter were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of a National Assembly (NA) official who had been missing since February this year.
The NA official disappeared on February 21 on his way home in G-15/2 from the Parliament House. His family conducted a search which was unsuccessful, after which they informed the police.
His family received a call from his mobile phone on February 22, and the victim informed them that he was fine and would return home soon. Police said his phone was switched off following the call and after that he could not be contacted.
His father then lodged a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police, who registered a kidnapping case against unidentified people on February 27.
During investigation, it was revealed that on the day the victim went missing, the National Assembly transport vehicle dropped him off at Mandi Mor, and he disappeared between Mandi Mor and his home. It also came to light that the victim received a call from his cousin in Bahawalnagar, and made a call from there to his family.
Police said the cousin and her father, the victim’s uncle, were picked up for interrogation, and said the victim reached Bahawalnagar of his own free will.
Police claimed that the victim’s uncle had killed him for having relations with his daughter, adding that he was then buried in the courtyard of the house. The victim’s body has been recovered, as well as his mobile phone and the murder weapon.
