QUETTA: Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik has asked the political leadership to influence the youth in order to shun extremism.
During a meeting with a delegation of Kech district led by Rajab Ali Rind and the newly-elected MPA Ghanshiam Das Madvani here on Monday, the chief minister said that the youth should rather be driven towards democratic process to get their problems solved.
Mr Madvani was nominated on the seat reserved for minorities which fell vacant after the assassination of Handery Masieh last week.
The chief minister said all political forces should join hands for strengthening the democratic process, especially at a time when the country was passing through a difficult time.
“People have faced negative impact and punishment of undemocratic rule,” he said, adding that politicians, intellectuals and youth should play their role in getting rid of the problems of Balochistan.
“Our youth must work towards democratic process by abandoning extremism and hostile politics. The coalition government is making all out efforts to provide maximum higher educational facilities. The youth are our future assets and the government will utilise all available resources for their welfare”.
Dr Baloch said there would be no compromise on democracy, saying that development, prosperity and brotherhood depended on a stable democratic process.
“The undemocratic government [in the past] has pushed the country to the swamp of problems and serious crises,” he said.
