KARACHI: At least eight people were killed on Friday in separate incidents of violence in Karachi, DawnNews reported.
One person was gunned down in Sohrab Goth’s Janjal Goth area.
Another was killed in Malir-15.
Furthermore, one person was shot dead in Federal B area near Hussainabad where as one person was killed in Orangi Town due to firing.
Also a body stuffed in a gunny sack was recovered from Landhi 36-B.
Meanwhile, five suspects belonging to a banned militant outfit were arrested in Landhi's Gulshan-i-Buner area.
Suspects killed in encounters
At least three suspects were killed in separate encounters by the police and rangers personnel in Karachi.
Upon receiving a tip-off regarding the presence of suspects in Madina Colony of New Karachi, the Rangers personnel reached the site.
On seeing the security personnel, the suspects opened fire at them following which the Rangers counter attacked.
According to the sources, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the suspects.
Two of the deceased belonged to a banned militant outfit, who were believed to be involved in serious crimes.
Moreover, one suspect was killed in a police encounter while he was caught looting the citizens in Sohrab Goth's Al-Asif Square.
Karachi is home to multiple conflicts that frequently turn violent, including gang wars and ethnic and political rivalries. Militants are said to use the city as a hiding place and a source of funds obtained through bank heists, extortion and kidnapping for ransom.
