ISLAMABAD: Around 2,500 personnel, including policemen and volunteers, will perform security duty in the capital city during Ramazan.

Keeping in view the prevailing situation, the capital police have devised an elaborate security plan for the holy month under which the 2,500 security men will perform special duty around 720 mosques and 39 imambargahs in the city.

Police officials, security guards and volunteers from mosques will be deployed for the security. These security arrangements shall be supervised by five superintendents of police and additional station house officers.

Personnel have been called from the police line headquarters and provided to the police stations to ensure effective security duties at worship places and markets. Police stations have been directed to coordinate with the office-bearers of trader unions in their respective areas to ensure effective security along with the security guards.

The police said a special drive against professional beggars would be launched and they would not be allowed to gather outside the worship places. The mosque committees would also not allow any stranger or outsider to stay in the worship places.

The police officials have also been directed to carry out special checking of hotels, motels, inns and guest houses.

SSP Mohammad Ali Nekokara directed all the participants to ensure compliance of these security arrangements during the month. Only one gate of the worship places would be kept open during the month and mosque committees would conduct checking through metal detectors and would also deploy private security guards for the purpose.

Meanwhile, property dealers have been directed to furnish the record of tenants with the SHOs of their respective areas. Moreover, checking at the exit and entry points of the city would be intensified without causing any inconvenience to the citizens.

All the subdivisional police officers and SHOs have been directed to personally supervise the security arrangements during the month and ensure the deployment of police officials or private security guards where it was necessary.
