QUETTA: Two people were killed on Thursday as a result of firing in Balochistan province's Panjgur district.
A police official who requested anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to media told Dawn that police found two bodies in Panjgur's Tasap area. He said residents of Tasap spotted the bodies and informed the police.
"Both bodies have been shifted to Civil Hospital Panjgur," the official said.
One of the victims was identified as Ilyas s/o Muhammad Islam resident of Tasap, the official said, adding that the motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.
"We are investigating the incident," he added.
Police also reached the spot where the bodies were found as an investigation into the incident was launched.
Panjgur is considered one of the sensitive districts of insurgency-hit Balochistan province. Militants in the area have been targeting security forces and pro-government politicians.
Mutilated bodies are recovered every now and then from different parts of the province. This has been going on for more than four years.
