SIALKOT: A woman was killed for honour in Nangal Mirza, Pasrur on Thursday, police said.
Mushtaq Butt’s daughter Madeeha Mushtaq, 23, eloped with Azam three months ago and contracted court marriage with him.
Her family persuaded the couple to come back to the village.Madeeha’s cousins Shahid Butt and Fahd Butt, however, did not accept the marriage. They stormed into the house of Madeeha late on Thursday, shot her dead and fled.
On the report of Madeeha’s grandfather Muhammad Ali Butt, the Pasrur Saddar police registered a murder case against Shahid and Fahd with no arrest. It is the second honour killing in the district in the last eight days.
Earlier, newly-wed couple -- Sajjad Ahmed and Mafia Bibi -- was beheaded for contracting love marriage in Satrah on June 26.
Police arrested four people in the case. On Friday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge remanded in police custody the four people for seven days in the case.
Daska Deputy Superintendent of Police Engineer Rana Zahid said they produced Ghulam Rasul, Bashiran Bibi, Iqbal Hasan and Shamshad before the ATC judge in Gujranwala and got extended the remand till July 10.
The accused are from Mafia’s family.
