QUETTA: Four people including two policemen were killed in two different incidents of firing in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan on Sunday, police said.
Imran Qureshi, the Superintendent of Police told Dawn.com motorcycle-riding armed assailants opened fire at a tailor's shop in Killi Bangulzai area of Quetta. He said two persons identified as father and son were killed inside the shop.
"The assailants sped away on their motorcycle after the attack," Qureshi stated. He said police and other law enforcers reached the spot to investigate the incident.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack. Incidents of targeted killings in different areas of Quetta are on constant rise.
In another incident, armed men opened fire at police constables in Kuchlak area of Quetta district. Police said the personnel were seriously injured in the attack.
They two later succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital for medical treatment. There was no arrest in connection with the murder of the policemen. Officials said the motive behind the attack could not be confirmed.
Both incidents have come at a time when nationalist-led government claimed to have improved the law and order situation in Balochistan, which has been plagued by growing sectarian violence and attacks by Baloch separatists.
