SIALKOT: Police unearthed a private torture cell on Monday reportedly being run by the Daska City police and rescued three people illegally detained and tortured there.
A team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Mahmoodul Hasan Gilani raided a rice mills in Daska city where the Daska City police were running the cell.
The team rescued three people -- Iqbal, Khalid and Aslam -- from the cell. The families of the recovered people told Mr Gilani that the Daska City police had also extorted Rs200,000 from them family for not torturing the detained people.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Gohar Nafees suspended from service Sub-Inspector (SI) Tauqeerul Hasan Ranjha and ASI Irshad Ahmad.
The City Daska police also registered a case against their five colleagues -- constables Iftikhar Sandhu, Muhammad Nawaz, Rana Zulfiqar and Zahid Nagra -- for torturing Younasabad-Daska based Zaheer Ahmed. — Correspondent
