KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday reached Karachi for a one-day visit to review the law and order situation in the city, DawnNews reported.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah welcomed the premier at the airport.
The prime minister reached Nawab Charagh Marri’s residence and expressed his condolences over the death of tribal leader Khair Bakhsh Marri.
Later, Prime Minister Nawaz reached the Governor House where he will chair a meeting regarding the Karachi security situation.
The premier was flanked by Federal Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Central Information Secretary for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Senator Mushahidullah Khan and party member Abdul Hakim Baloch.
The provincial chief minister is also expected to brief the premier on the causes of the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
The prime minister visited Karachi for the first time last year on September 4, and presided a meeting pertaining to initiation of Karachi operation in the city.
