KARACHI: Nine new ministers of the Sindh provincial assembly took oath on Friday, raising the total size of the provincial cabinet to 16.
Mohammad Khan Junejo and Hasnain Mirza were appointed as advisers to the Sindh Chief Minister.
The provincial legislators accompanied by the chief minister held a meeting with Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad at the Governor House in Karachi, in which matters pertaining to the security situation in the province were discussed.
Later, the governor administered oath to the new cabinet members.
The new ministers include Awais Muzaffar, Jam Mahtab Hussain Dahar, Syed Ali Mardan Shah, Giyan Chand, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Rubina Qaimkhawani, Dost Ali Rahimoo, Muhammad Javed Nagori and Jam Khan Shoro.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Khan Junejo and Hasnain Mirza were appointed as the advisers to the Sindh Chief Minister.
According to the 18th amendment, the total size of the cabinet cannot exceed 18 ministers, or 11 per cent of the provincial assembly.
CM briefed on Lyari situation
Top security officials met with Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and briefed him about the law and order situation. Director General Rangers Rizwan Akhter, Inspector General Sindh Police Nadeem Baloch and Additional Inspector General Ghulam Qadir Thebo called on the chief minister.
The CM was briefed on the overall security situation, especially the law and order situation in Lyari. DG Rangers Rizwan Akhter informed the chief minister that strict security checks were ensured at all exit and entry points leading to the restive area, and that as many as 15 pickets had been set up.
Akhtar also briefed the CM about the overall law and order situation of the city.
