MARDAN: Three people were injured when a home-made explosive device, planted near a private bank building in Mardan, exploded on Tuesday night damaging the bank building and the adjacent medicine shops.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Tahktbahi Police Station, Haider Khan told Dawn.com that the bomb was planted in a power generator near the bank on main Malakand Road of the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The bank building and adjacent medicine shops were partially damaged in the blast.
He confirmed that three people were injured in the explosion which was carried out through a time device, adding that around seven kilograms of explosives was used in the blast.
Soon after the blast, the security forces launched a search operation in the area while the injured were shifted to the local hospital.
Meanwhile, in another incident in Lakki Marwat District a grocery shop was bombed in Dara Paizu area. However, SHO Mir Sahib Khan told Dawn.com there were no casualties.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility of the attacks. However, the province is rife with Pakistani Taliban and al Qaeda backed militancy.
