Talks with Taliban prerogative of federal govt: Khattak

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said that talks with the Taliban is the prerogative of the federal government.

The chief minister said militants must accept the constitution of Pakistan and clear the way for the progress of the country.

Speaking to the media at CM House, in which he gave a briefing regarding 90 days in power for his party in KP, Khattak said that successes have been made during this period.

He said that the provincial government has given public departments instructions to close the doors of corruption. He also said that the 30 August deadline given to public officers should not be taken lightly.

The chief minister said that efforts are being made to finish the Thana, patwari culture in the province. He said that many complaints have been brought to their attention by the public.

Khattak stated that after formation of the accountability commission, accountability will soon be implemented.

The chief minister said to provide loan facilities for the public, reforms are being implemented in government departments.

To make sure that the departments are performing better, he said that working groups are being formed.

He said that a health policy is being made, which will soon be announced.

For improvement of peace and security in the province, Khattak said that a new intelligence system will be made, which will include new recruits.

He also said that CCTV cameras will be placed at various places.
