ISLAMABAD: During Friday's session of the Senate, a unanimous resolution was passed to pay tributes to Chaudhry Aslam and Aitezaz Hussain who were both killed in separate militant attacks, DawnNews reported.
The Senate session was headed by Chairman Nayyar Bokhari. during which the Senators took to task the Sindh government for failing to establish law and order in the country's economic capital Karachi.
Awami National Party (ANP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) staged a walkout of the Senate, over the killing of senior police official Chaudhry Aslam Khan in an explosion in Karachi a day earlier and what they alleged as failure of the Sindh government to establish law and order in the metropolis.
ANP Senator Shahi Syed demanded an operation in Karachi similar to the ones carried out in Buner and Swat following which members of the Upper House staged a walkout.
Syed said brave police officer Chaudhry Aslam had been killed and that the police’s writ in the city was gradually diminishing. While claiming that Karachi was on the brink of a disaster, he questioned as to why action was not being carried out against Taliban and other militant groups.
Meanwhile, MQM also joined the walkout. Senator Tahir Mashadi said that Karachi was not a suitable place for citizens to live in.
