PESHAWAR: More than a hundred shops caught fire due to a short-circuit on Saturday in the Auqaf Plaza in Peshawar’s Sarafa (gold) market, DawnNews reported.
The Sarafa market consisted of gold shops which caught fire and a part of the Auqaf Plaza’s roof also collapsed in the accident.
In the incident more than 28 vehicles of the Rescue were involved in dousing fire.
Due to scarcity of water supply, the fire came under control after a rescue operation of seven to eight hours.
The locals claimed the fire took place late at night whereas shop owners said that due to lack of timely action they suffered a loss of millions of rupees.
Karachi fire incidents
Six people lost their lives while five sustained burns on Saturday in three different incidents of fire in the city.
According to the Rescue sources, in Dastagir area’s block 15, fire broke in a house resultantly killed four family members which included the husband, wife and their two children.
In Bhains Colony, a woman and child died in a blaze accident.
In Hub Chowki, fire erupted in a house, causing injuries to five people who were taken immediately to a hospital, where they are being treated.
