KARACHI: The mother and elder brother of the deceased Suleman Lashari in the DHA shootout case on Monday identified the suspected killers during an identification parade carried out in a sessions court, DawnNews reported.
Speaking in court, Lashari’s mother said the prime suspect Salman Abro opened indiscriminate fire on her son. She added that the suspects were armed with rifles when they showed up at the Lashari residence.
Investigation sources said that Suleman Lashari suffered shots to the neck and hip.
The sources added that the bullet that had hit his neck was fired from a government SMG rifle whereas at the time of the incident all the policemen involved, Zaheer, Rashid, Yasin, Maqbool and Imran were dressed in plain clothes.
The accused, young Abro sustained bullet wounds in his spinal cord and kidney area.
SP Ghulam Sarwar Abro’s son, Salman Abro, 18, along with five police guards of his father had reportedly stormed the residence of Suleman Lashari, 18, on Khayaban-i-Shamsheer at around 2am.
It triggered a shootout, claiming the life of Lashari and the 27-year-old police guard, Zaheer Ahmed Rind.
Abro's family had claimed that a few hours before the incident, a scuffle had broken out between the teenagers and Salman Abro went there for settlement but Lashari's guard had opened fire resulting in the clash.
A case had been registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupee) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of Anti-terrorism Act, 1998 on a complaint of the deceased’s brother at the Darakshan police station.
