Polio drive in Lehri stopped after threats

QUETTA: Polio vaccinators have discontinued their drive in Brahmani area of Lehri tehsil, Sibi distirct after receiving death threats.

District Health Officer Sibi, Dr Mian Manzoor Ahmed told the media on Tuesday that they had lodged a complaint with the Levies Force in Lehri about the suspect who threatened of attacking the polio team.

“The suspect hurled threats to a polio team as it reached Brahmani to administer vaccines to children,” Dr Manzoor said.

He said that it was the duty of the Levies Forces to arrest the man who threatened polio workers, including policemen. Deputy Com-missioner Sibi had also been informed about the incident, he said adding that the drive, however, continued in other areas of Sibi district.
