PTI urged to probe funds’ misuse by lawmakers

LAKKI MARWAT: A local PTI leader has asked the party leadership to hold a probe into the alleged misuse of uplift funds by the parliamentarians in Lakki Marwat district.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, the PTI district general secretary, Ahmad Nawaz, said that the party lawmakers should be made accountable for committing irregularities in use of developmental funds in the district. He asked the provincial government to implement zero tolerance against corruption and misuse of uplift funds.

Mr Nawaz said that party workers would keep a check on funds’ utilisation and would report irregularities to the party’s high command.

“We will not let our lawmakers to plunder national wealth and misuse funds meant for masses’ development,” he made clear, saying that transparent utilisation of funds would help make uplift schemes sustainable.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Colonel retired Dr Amirullah Marwat has alleged that Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s criticism of Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) is aimed at gaining political mileage.

According to a press release issued here on Monday, the PTI lawmaker said the why the JUI-F chief didn’t stop passage of the law through parliament as JUI-F is an ally of the PML-N-led federal government. He said that the JUI-F Senator Talha Mahmood was chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior which okayed the ordinance before its tabling in the Senate and the National Assembly.

Mr Marwat said if the JUI-F chief’s reservations on the law had no importance to the government, then he should part ways with the ruling party and sit on the opposition benches in the National Assembly. He asked the Maulana to shun what he said double dealing.

TRAINING OF SPECIAL FORCE: A month long training programme for the newly appointed recruits of the special police force was completed at the Police Lines here on Monday.

An official said that 100 policemen had been recruited for the special police force, adding that youth from far flung and border villages were inducted in the force for the first time.

“At completion of the training the special force will be deployed in the entire district to maintain peace and protect lives and properties of people along with the regular police,” he added. The official said the special force would also protect important installations and eradicate crime and anti-social activities in the district.
